To the uninitiated, the XR70 / CRF70 is a first-timers clutch bike for kids to learn to ride the trails with. To the big kids, the dilemma posed is whether to buy a pre-build like the Pitster pro / Pit pro or opt for a much cheaper price for a Honda XR70 to build your own tricked out pit bike.
There is, after all, plenty of information, brands for quality parts, search descriptions, and full-blown manuals, some in video, that guide you through custom builds. With most Honda bike models, parts are widely available and at a good price.
About the Original BuildThe seat height on a Honda XR70 is 25.7" and it's designed for kids too tall for the XR50 model. It uses a 70cc four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, has a 47 mm bore x 41.4 mm stroke, and 1.48 litre fuel tank capacity. At full throttle, it tops out at 42 mph. Most of those specs can be customized.
